I don't hate Kobe but I was thinking about something today. Would Kobe have taken that 2007 Cavaliers team to the NBA finals with the second best option on the team being Larry Hughes? :usure:

I hated Kobe from 97-99 because Michael Jordan was my favorite player and I didn't like the fact the media was comparing him to MJ. I didn't like how they gave some kid who never accomplished anything that sort of praise. It seemed to me that they were sort of disrespecting Jordan and wanting to get rid of him to create another superstar.

I got over that during the Lakers 2000 playoff run when I saw what a great player he was and how similar his game was to Jordan. Since then he's been my favorite player.

I assume most people who still hate Kobe have not gotten over their infatuation with Jordan and still hold onto those bytch tendencies I displayed as a kid.

I think it's easy to get disdain for someone who is overrated. He's overrated.

On a different level, it's the reason people got tired of Tim Tebow. It's not hate for the individual, but it's dislike for the process that led to them being overrated. Obviously Kobe's much better at what he does than Tebow, but both were overrated over fairy tales about intangibles.

On another level, out of every one of the top 15 players to ever play the game, I would probably draft Kobe last, because the volume scoring wing with a crappy locker room presence doesn't appeal to me. Not that you can't win with him on the right team, but I value efficiency more than volume.

So yea, narrative is tiring, but from a pure basketball perspective, I'm also not a fan of the individual with his style. Same way I'm not a big fan of Iverson's game, and at a lower level, people like J.R Smith and Jamal Crawford.

Kobe, Lebron(he's going to be top 15 when he's done, if not already), Mike, Magic, Duncan, Shaq, Russell, Chamberlain and I'm just shooting from the hip but there is no way you take Kobe over any of them. :pachaha:

I mean, you can make an argument that Kobe is as good as some of these guys in the top 15, but picking him over them is about style. I prefer players make the right play more often. I get that he has confidence and can make difficult plays, but he takes a lot of questionable inefficient jumpshots, and it's why he's less efficient than all the other wing players he's compared to (Jordan, LeBron, Bird, Wade).
