I don't hate Kobe but I was thinking about something today. Would Kobe have taken that 2007 Cavaliers team to the NBA finals with the second best option on the team being Larry Hughes?
who knows? He probably would've at least made the conference finals if he played a team with a .500 record in the first round, and another team with a .500 record in the 2nd round. those teams wouldn't even sniff the playoffs in the West.
And to answer the OP, people hate kobe because of his longevity, the fact that he's outlasted their favorite player (Iverson, tmac etc.), the fact that he's at least shytted on their favorite team or player once in his career, and of course his success. Not to mention it kills them that kobe is going down as a top 10 player of all time. Man, i understand why their mad.

One of the greatest wing players ever, but I think his flaws as person/player are really gonna hurt his legacy when it's all said and done.
Especially if he continuos to not transform his game as he gets older and has different players around him that could help him win.
He just always has seemed extremely selfish to the point that it has been detrimental to his teams at different points in his career.

Could you go more in depth? What exactly should Kobe do at his older age to help his team be successful. And how do these personality flaws prevent him from making said improvements?
