Why do you think so many rap songs equate love and happiness with money?

If rappers wasn't black you'd swear they was republicans.

lol i dunno... the conservative right, or rather the religious right, usually lashes out against that type of behavior.

sex without marriage and frivolous spending are huge no no's.

Money = resources

It's simple evolutionary theory. Humans crave more resources. In today's society, money equates to resources.

Everybody wants more money. Even the super wealthy. It's human nature.

Pretty much. Blacks going back to the slave days have been competing for scarce resources. Could be money, or simply respect. Its not surprising that in many ways we are still competing for those scarcities.

we can take the evolutionary theory even further. Having flashy cars and jewels makes you more attractive to potential mates. Those that are more attractive have a better chance of reproducing.

Yeah, but we end up with baby mammas and baby daddys. :ld:

The problem with corporate rap now, is that when (not if) the culture changes on the mainstream level, and materialism isn't as high on the totem pole anymore, you will see these rappers get shytted on and passed up. What rap really needs is something deeper, intellectually and emotionally.
