A gentleman wonders, how does the plight of our people ever progress when the truest of criticisms cannot be swallowed, when even our most esteemed gentlemen cannot garner and apply the essence of the phrase “the most hitteth of dogs shall hollereth”. As my fellow brother and good friend Ralph Ellison suppposes, why must every black gentleman or lady be tangled into a particular set out characteristics to be recognized and seen as worthy enough in thine own community, whether by outsiders and thine own, less this man or lady become invisible whether through thine own decision or forced by social backlash.

How do we as true gentlemen have respect for former pimps, hustlers, doomsday salesmen and charlatans of the lumpenproletariat but not for those who have always strived to be a credit to thine own race?

I wish he'd speak out more strongly against white supremacy BUT I don't have an issue with him giving our young boys good advice.

He's telling them that they are gonna have a lot of shyt to deal with no matter what. Don't make it harder on yourself. Our sons need to be strong and accept that they won't get as many chances as Hunter or Becky. It's not right, but it is reality.

Problem is that he should spend a little more time talking about Hunter and Becky's privilege.

I know you don't mean to, but, that comes off as an excuse. If he gave a fukk, he'd go kamikaze for those four years and said fukk eight. But, he didn't. He did everything that bankers told him.

It wasn't global white supremacy or The Man.

EVERY EASY "Pro-black" take, he took 'Travyvon could've been my son' (then said absolutely nothing about the media demonizing him for being murdered).

When it comes with backing that rhetoric with the power of the Executive Office, he never wanted to. He never wanted to.

Context:

Barack Obama's Morehouse Moment | HuffPost

President Barack Obama visited Morehouse College on a rainy Sunday afternoon to give a refrain on the responsibility of Morehouse Men and black America to find dignity and progress in self-reliance, a refrain that has simultaneously proven exciting and excruciating for African Americans over the last four years.

"We’ve got no time for excusesnot because the bitter legacies of slavery and segregation have vanished entirely; they haven’t. Not because racism and discrimination no longer exist; that’s still out there. It’s just that in today’s hyperconnected, hypercompetitive world, with a billion young people from China and India and Brazil entering the global workforce alongside you, nobody is going to give you anything you haven’t earned. And whatever hardships you may experience because of your race, they pale in comparison to the hardships previous generations endured — and overcame."
Again, this guy said all this and still believed we never deserved any direct action to address this.

For instance; HBCU's are languishing (Bennett College for example), Black unemployment is still bad, Black Homeownership (our primary source of wealth) is at a 55 year low.

"Nobody cares how tough your upbringing was. Nobody cares if you suffered some discrimination. And moreover, you have to remember that whatever you've gone through, it pales in comparison to the hardships previous generations endured -- and they overcame them. And if they overcame them, you can overcome them, too," he said.

Again, he said this to the most prestigious HBCUs and men's college graduates.

I cannot imagine being a “boy” in that room, who feels like a girl or who is a girl, or dreams of eight men twerking around him, or wants to twerk, or is curious about both boys and girls.
What is this shyt? And yes, I know this came from the article. So no, this isn’t coming from the OP.

we won't have t.v.s and the internet has various controls to remove content and sites. What are you talking about.:dwillhuh: what year are you living in?

Internet blockers don't work. :mjlol:

You're going to keep them from having friends too.

How you think you are going to suppress information in the information age and actual history that took place? I guess they won't know of any president?

What year are you living in? 1969? :mjlol:

To put it another way: Programs like My Brother’s Keeper insist on making better versions of Trayvon Martin, the black victim, instead of asking how to stop creating people like George Zimmerman, the racist vigilante. Rather than encouraging them to dismantle the systems that deepen wealth inequality, Mr. Obama tells black boys to tuck their chains.
