The majority of signed artists don't actually put out albums...these labels sign dozens and dozens of acts every year, that you'll never hear of...or just think about all the artists that had deals, got dropped, and then became famous years after the fact either on some internet sh!t or with another label (Frank Ocean's original stint before the name change, Freddie Gibbs when he got his interscope deal way back in '04, etc.)...a record deal isn't a contractual assurance of fame and stardom, and not a guranteed source of money by the label...an overlooked part of the music industry is the money they pour into various acts, just to get the ones that do succeed to pop off...

the biggest difference between Cash Money and say a Def Jam or an Interscope far as artists that don't end up dropping goes, is that Cash Money is smaller (but not your typical rap vanity label) and still has that old school rap label mentality of "welcome to the family" (or still go out of their way to present it that way for branding purposes), so we end up privy to pretty much every signing they make...when Def Jam signs some act like Unladylike out of East St. Louis, nobody knows...there is no video clip of whoever the fukk is running Def Jam that year signing them on a yacht on worldstar or some sh!t...and nobody gives a fukk that they're never heard from again after they signed because nothing came of it before they eventually dropped

And this is why you see people still signing to them. If nothing else they get exposure they were not getting otherwise. They just signed Cee Lo this week and then went around promoting him right after with him rocking their brand/label.

I don't think it was an accident that The Game announces hes signed to Cash Money and then all the sudden he's doing a bunch of clubs in Miami.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
I don't get why he's signing everyone and their momma, Im guessing to get his publishing catalog up. But it doesn't make sense to give an artist an advance, then shelf them, how is suppose to make a profit, unless they are just artist development deals with no big advance until they make a hit.
corner the market...

why do the Yankees have a farm system??

why does the nba have a d-league???

so when your superstars ain't worth shyt... or you just need some extra heat... or just in case one of them nikkas blow up
