Na
i get that once you get someone in a hold its all over
But everything has to go right and you actually have to be able to grab the person

How come there isn’t like more boxers that get out the way and then just smash on the bjj person?

I don't know what you base this on, we never really saw the best boxers against the best BJJers

not an expert on BJJ but to my best knowledge true high level BJJ practitioners were pretty common in MMA once and they still show up time to time while from boxers the only relevant fighters you can find who tried MMA are washed up legends in their 40s like Toney or Mercer.

Now I agree that if a BJJ guy can take a boxer to the ground it's likely over but I feel like many ppl underestimate the way elite boxers can move, keep distance, threaten you from coming in, etc...

it's a lot deeper than what some of them boxing hating MMA bros (not the MMA fans on here or generally the normal MMA fans) think about it. They envision it like the grappler basically just has to bumrush an elite boxer and the boxer can't do anything against it. It ain't that simple. Good luck w trying to bumrush a guy (in his prime) trained his whole life to punch while you are not trained your whole life to defend and eat such shots. As big of an advantage for a wrestler or BJJ guy over a boxer is that they can wrestle or grapple, the same kind of advantage is for the boxer is the ability to deliver powerful punches against an opponent who's not trained to take and block/avoid them. A wrestler leaves himself wide open while he is trying to take you down, it only takes one powerful straight or uppercut and it can be a KO... especially with 4oz gloves or bare knuckles.

A bjj nikka is going to sleep the minute he is in punching distance. Those bjj nikkas have trouble w the management of distance wrestlers give them and they work in a closer distance than boxers. A boxer would give them fits. Think about how many gracies are the the top right now in mma :sas1:

Dont let them sensais gaming nikkas for 100+ dollars a month tell you ant different.

Holds do work

Me and my breh @puppetmaster used to bounce/do security...putting cats in front facelocks or rear naked chokes is an effective way to end confrontations

Facts. Front face locks, full Nelson’s and RNC’s have saved us from lawsuits with folks we’d have otherwise had to put hands on to get them out of the club.

A front face lock applied right always ends a fight, had many a “tough guy” on the ground trying to say “I give, I quit”

I avoided a lawsuit thank god when I punched a drunken patron in the throat :whew:...he shouldn't have sucker punched me when I told him to clear out from the parking lot :manny:...the colors he turned as he struggled to breathe while on the ground :demonic:

I’ll offer Randy Couture vs James Toney as a small example of don’t underestimate grappling. It’s not as simple as well I’ll uppercut them when they shoot for a takedown. A power double isn’t the only way you can end up on your back getting elbowed to the face.

MMA closely mimicks street fights in the sense they start on the feet but there’s all kinds of ways to end up on your back and people that strictly box aren’t at all prepared to get their legs attacked or what to do if you get ankle picked or some shyt

I’ve seen too many brothers get manhandled simply because they only had hands and some smaller cat knew basic grappling. We gotta stop looking at grappling as some ineffective form of fighting. Brothers at the least should learn how to fight off a clinch/takedown attempt or at LEAST how to get back up
