Why does Blake Bortles get a pass?

His overall QBR and QB rating are ridiculously bad. He was arguably as poor as Geno Smith last season, except with better weapons. All things considered, Bortles is probably a bust. So why he getting a pass?

In his rookie year Geno had UDFAs, 5'9 Jeremy Kerley and an old Santonio Holmes, who is now out of the league. Bortles had a surprise performer Hurns, Robinson until November and Marqise Lee. That's a more athletic and explosive group that anything Geno had in his first year (or this year excluding Decker). Bortles should have been able to make more plays.

The Jags' receiving talent is better than you give it credit. The line isn't great but it's better than Bortles' 28.9% Sack Rate too. Henne was sacked at a better rate last year with the same or worse line. Also, teams don't draft pocket passing projects 3rd in the draft.
