Why does Destiny get hate for the same thing Halo is praised for?

FPS was never consistantly popular on console for any length of time prior to halo. You had excellent games like Golden Eye 007, then poor recreations and so the genre Ebbed and Flowed. There were several games, namely Goldeneye, Socom, and ultimately Halo that brought fps to the mainstream forefront, and instead of it receeding into obscurity again after the breakout of Halo, Call of Duty 3 was released in a timely enough manner that it cemented the fps genre into the mainstream.

PC gaming has never been mainstream, and is currently as successful as its ever been. The majority of gamers would not be able to name Gordon Freeman (though some would recognize him) and almost none could identify a character from Quake or Unreal. That is the reality of the situation. Like I said, Halo did things that Half-Life and the other PC games you are refering to already did, as I acknowledged, but halo did them leaps and bounds better, streamlining everything right down to the tutorial where there is about 1 minute of in between waking up and getting your gun. The PC games at the time were either starting you off with you gun, minimizing the story impact of getting it, or dragging the tutorial out to 5 minutes before anything happens.

Halo had a level of polish and refinement that wasn't present before it and hasn't been consistantly recreated since. So yes, Halo did do something PC games weren't doing. They weren't refining or stylizing correctly.
In doom or duke nukem you don't get a sense of the individual enemies character motivations asside from being one-dimensional. There were games with vehicle combat but they were not executed with the same level of precession. Halo's theme music is even better. Just sitting at the menu you can tell a classic game from a good game. The halo start menu screen and music is on par with being at the start menu on Ocarina of Time. You know its about to be good before it happens.

And Halo was also Game of the Year on PC... so don't get it twisted.

I agree with you whole heartedly

No one cared that Halo's story was the same non sensical space magic shyt, but people love it enough to read books about the fiction. The coolest part about Halo was the idea of the Halo itself. Bet lets not pretend this isn't the same type of shyt. (the conspirator, the traveler, the darkness the librarian, etc, etc,)

Every game it's "I don't care about story just gimme stellar gameplay.

I haven't played much of the game yet but from what I've played/seen, it reminds me more of Mass Effect than it does Halo.

It's just not that good. Xbox is the flagship for Madden, COD, and plenty other games and you don't see me hyping them up. You've never seen me hype up a game that was scored this low regardless of platform.

Accusations of my intentions won't make this game not have a metacritic of 74
