Why does Godzilla '98 get so much hate?

You ASKED why people dont like the movie. In addition to being poorly written, terribly acted by the two leads, schlocky, goofy, gimmicky, containing CGI that doesnt stand up very well today, and overly long, the redesign of Godzilla is one of the MAIN things that people dont like. If you're gonna redesign something it better be better than the original or at least able to stand on its own. This new "Zilla" was neither. It wasnt particularly interesting, scary, likeable or anything else. It fails as a Godzilla film and it also fails as a generic monster movie.

Imagine if they do the Predator reboot and instead give him a face like an owl and a flat top instead of dreads. Then when you complain I say "well who cares about the look, you should still like it!"

I understand people may have a problem with a new design of a character, but if they're gonna shyt on a movie based on that reason then that's a pretty stupid reason. And the majority of Godzilla flicks are what you described this movie, aside from the CGI part. Go watch an older G flick and watch this and tell me if there's a difference in what you typed out.

I enjoyed it as a kid and still enjoy it now.
