Assuming does come into play in this situation. Only the exact individual truly knows if they hate their hair because of self hate. People can hate anything about their appearance and hair is not off limits to me. Some of these people may look goofy because of their choices, but if they're not hurting anybody or bringing anybody down then I don't care.

Changing your hairstyle is one thing

Changing the natural texture of your hair is another :mjpls:

I mean... Black hair/curly hair is versatile so changing it up once in a while is cool. I would take it farther and say never wearing or being ashamed of wearing your hair texture is the problem.

Like when people hate their new growth and run to get a perm when they see it.

Let's say that a person hates their hair. They do the typical covering it by rocking weaves wigs, etc.

And why do men who rock toupees not get flack?:francis:
Anyways...

Why does society say this person hates themselves just because they hate their hair when most people in this world arent 100% happy with everything on their body.

Why does hair have so much power?

I think because many women tend to get weaves/wigs with a different texture than their natural hair, folks attribute it to self hate. And yes, it's a Black thing. Our situation is unique. Can't compare it to white folks gettin' perms.

Black hair has power because it's one of the most notable differences between our race & others.

Men get major flack for wearin' toupees. Steve Harvey, Donald Trump, etc.

They just want something to complain about.

Black women were angry with Black men ever since Black men abandoned the Jheri curl.
