Lord Jamar said he fukks with Eminem, I'm confused by this considering his stance, Macklemore does what he does, but Eminem has numerous recorded racist tapes dissing black people, has dressed as a woman in videos, said stuff more "gay" than Macklemore "me and Dre fukking with hats off" etc. Also Eminem is different from Macklemore, he dissed Lauryn Hill and said he don't like her, that doesn't appear to be Macklemore's stance. Before anybody says it's cause of music this is incorrect cause Lord Jamar said Macklemore is dope. Also people talk about the Grammys, hasn't Eminem got more privilege because he was white than anybody? Even with his racist history? And his attitude? And even dissed black icons. Seems to be some hypocrisy within this view point. Why diss Macklemore but say you fukk with Eminem? Also he said he fukked with Brother Ali who has music about gay people's rights. It's quite confusing.

It smacks of going after an easy target to me.
Watched the video again, doesn't mention anything about the hypocrisy mentioned.

Not really, there's plenty of reasons not to. Numerous consistent rape references, overt sexism, negativity, disrespecting people unnecessary, being a liar, selling out etc. But the point was more in regards to inconsistency, how can you praise Eminem after his history? Also at the age of 21 your not a teenager, I know one tape was at age 16, one was at 21 though, which is an adult accountable for their actions. Also the apparent black girlfriend was never found or proven, and he used to do racist rap hours regularly so it wasn't an isolated incident. The tape that says ****** shyt is different from the Foolish Pride one.
I'm talking from a rap fans standpoint not a homosexual female priest. Cause obviously boy band Stans, George Bush stans, people with no sense of humor whatsoever etc will hate him.
And selling out? He might be the rapper with a contract who sold out the least.
He apologized for anyone who caught feelings over his made up fantasy stories about being chased by giant women, killing his close people like Dr Dre, his wife/baby mother etc. musically he fell of after that.
I've not heard about this racist tape from when he was 21, nor would I care all this dudes friends are black, all his favorite people, his boss, employees, body guards, even goons he had back in the days and on.

The difference between Eminem and Macklemore is their background.
Eminem, despite what his image had grown into, is just a battle rapper who came up. His message in his music is consistent with raps underdog mentality. You can't attack his skills or history coming up through doing tracks with Rawkus, the Outsidaz, Masta Ace, and battle rapping. You can't attack the Detroit nikkas who back him. Even though he lives like a shut in, he was fully connected with the Hip Hop community before he got famous.
I'm sure someone's gonna correct me on this, but I don't think Macklemore brings that same vibe to rap at all. Macklemore just as easily could have been a pop act like the male Lady Gaga. Rap fans werent jocking The Heist at all. Most of us havent even heard it. The Heist's elevated status in rap comes from outsiders pushing messages that are outside the norms of whats acceptable in Hip Hop strictly to outsiders.
There's nothing wrong with challenging norms, but it feels like its being done without any say from the actual culture. Lorde has the same issue.

Different point, but Macklemore is entitled to say HIS opinion and views and make songs about what he wants. It's not a dictatorship, if someone disagrees then make music making YOUR point of view, or music challenging that point of you, to say someone can't speak their opinion in music is ridiculous, especially due to colour.
