Pretty much.
Some have better deals than others. Everybody cares about the new software, or the next piece of technology. It's hard to ignore the potential money in it.

Also, healthcare. Majority of the American population is overweight and eating has become a apart of entertainment. Plenty of :flabbynsick: patients to keep you getting paid as a Nurse.

Isn't Finance, Accounting also considered stem as it involves mathematics.
To some people who want to feel like part of the STEM group, but if you told a chemist, physicist or engineer, etc. that you studied a STEM major and followed up by saying Accounting, you'd probably get hit with :mjlol:. STEM is typically reserved for the big sciences (not social sciences :comeon:), mathematics, engineering and technology.

People should do what they want to do and what they would enjoy. Those are great fields to go into if that is the kind of thing you like.

In high school and my first year of college, I was a pharmacy technician on the path to become a pharmacist. After actually working in that environment, I knew that I could never be happy living that lifestyle (regardless of the money). After actually getting your degree, being a retail pharmacist literally takes no effort, imagination, or challenge. It's the most mundane job ever and the hours typically suck. After that no, other STEM field appealed to me.

I ultimately pursued my passion and I am more than happy. Will I make 6 figures? Probably not, but I will still make more than the average household income and have a prestigious career so it's a win/win for me.

So what is your passion now?

So what is your passion now?

The thing is, I've always wanted to be a writer. When I was in high school, my goal was to write my first book before I graduated. However, I struggled to find my voice or the story that I wanted to tell. It wasn't until I took a Black Issues in Education course my senior year of college and taught elementary school for 3 years (in the inner city) that realized I was very passionate about giving a voice to marginalize populations. I'm accomplishing that now by pursuing my PhD and conducting and publishing research on AND with populations that are near and dear to my heart.

Unlike a lot of other academic researchers who publish stuff for kudos and pats on the back from colleagues, I also work with community organizations to funnel this knowledge back into the community (if you can't afford expensive subscriptions to academic journals, you will probably never be able to access all types of studies that could be used to improve lives and communities). Additionally, I work with youth (mostly high schoolers) to teach them how to conduct academic research and use the to results to solve problems in their community (it's called Action Research).

My ultimate goal in life is to help black youth succeed. There are soooo many smart black children who lack access to information about how to succeed. I ultimately want to fill that knowledge gap.

The best part of this all is that I get to make my own hours, travel, and work from wherever I want. I am literally living the life I always dreamed about.

And I work in hospital laboratories...

I love what I do but it's one of those thankless jobs because either

A.) You never see the patient...and it's for the best more times than not.

B.) If the patient does see you, then they assume that you're the doctor or the nurse

O yea, if anyone is thinking about nursing and you have a weak stomach don't even bother, if you hate kids don't bother, and if you have a hard time dealing with difficult and ignorant people DON'T fukkIN' BOTHER.

And to be honest, people need to appreciate nurses more too for all the bullshyt they put up with, they earn every penny too.

:salute:
