The only way there could've been a bias is if other regions were looking to NY for respect. Now if that's what other regions were doing than yea I agree there was a bias. But the coli acts like music was NY was irrelevant where theyre from

My thing is everybody has arrogance when they’re on top. NY definitely felt themselves but the West did and the South is now.

I will say that I get this part when you live in NY or Cali, the south trying to downplay other places comes off as laughable and bitter because as a whole, people from bigger regions tend to look down on the south.

other regions feel themselves too but we were BAD... we felt if hip hop didnt sound like our shyt then it wasnt valid at all. other regions took note. you're right about the south though new york gets a bad rap, everybody looked down on them

A number of west coast and southern rappers have stated that they wanted respect from NYC. Bun B for one said it on Drink Champs. It's only natural when that's where it originated

NY invented hip hop. You have to pay homage respect.

I never had any issue ny.

I think people may dislike NY cause they think there second tier or lower tier rappers get the royal treatment just cause they from NY.

They look at a mozzy or a rapper from Detroit or new Orleans and feel they dont get the recognition they deserve.

That what I've heard from people that don't like NY.

Naw bruh....I was fortunate enough to go back to BK during the summer's when I moved to LA....use to listen to NY radio alot....they didnt play any west coast shyt until the Chronic dropped for the most part...Southern hip hop was almost non existent on their radio stations....Out West we played everything....there was a huge ass bias....

I'll tell u why as I am from BK myself....when it comes to hip hop NY was always on its high horse....they shytted on the West and the South big time....but now look at NY....all them nikkaz dikk ride the south and the west big time...you can deny it if you want but those are all facts....

I do agree with this. Being only 3 hours from NY my only exposure to other regions came from magazines and music videos up until the Chronic dropped. Our radio was almost all NY. You gotta remember tho that back then DJs were the ones who decided what got played on the radio. So of course NY DJs were gonna play NY shyt since soooooooo much dope music was coming from there. Not as many acts were coming from other regions
