The problem is no one wants to follow NY/East coast rules when it comes to making music. NY has always been about having good lyrics and a great flow before anything else. It was East coast rap rules. But young nikkas these days do not care about that anymore.It is all about having having a catchy hook now and a strong bass. Trap music was the worse thing that happen to hip hop and I blame the south for that nearly destroying the essence of what hip hop was originally about. Even southern rappers from the late 90s and early 2000 followed East coast rap rules for a good min.
