It really says something when posters link the Twitter of a bigot, a news article from a site popular to racists, or YouTube video of a divestor...all just to prove a point. What is the mindset behind this?

Imo, it's clear they share the same views as the people they claim to hate but they have to put up a front on here to avoid getting banned.

I think there's a simpler explanation in most cases. Most TLR brehs are just looking for a plat and will post anything that is known to generate that (threads about gays and trehs doing wild shyt, random black women saying wild shyt, videos that involve black men being violent or ignorant). They also have to rush to be the first ones to post something so in most cases, they won't even look at the source of the information.
