Please refrain from the bs stan wars I don't make drake threads .

I see people always talk about how he doesn't need to talk about our issues because that's not his lane .

Why does it have to be his lane to bring awareness when he's one of the biggest entertainers .

It kinda make those people who say he's a culture vulture right .

I say that because hip hop wasn't just built on party music and fun . It was also a gateway for our people to communicate and spread word about what's going on .

This gives me pause as to why can someone like drake use the great parts of what we build . Yet he's not responsible for the tough subjects .

Before you bring all these young ignorant rappers up stop I'm talking about drake . He's one of the biggest entertainers and I'm using him as an example .

Now I might be wrong drake fans but what charity work does drake do ?

I've seen the baseball game donation during the meek beef but we all know that was just a pawn move.

Think he also donated to some lady in Ohio who suffered a tragedy .

Apart from that I don't see anything else but like I said I could be wrong .

I just don't understand why it's ok for him to use just the good parts of our culture .

Also please don't bring up drake speaking out about the police shooting that shyt was like 5 years too late .

Jay z and Beyoncé give a lot of money to charity and they never speak on it .

Why don't we hold drake accountable ?

You don't have to agree with my post I just want to hear some valid reasons .

Spread Love - The Player Way
cause drake doesnt hold himself accountable
everything is a ploy to make money to him
"if i went concious...i could get all of your fans"
its the reason he goes to ridiculous lengths by borrowing flows...songs, lyrics from different artists all over the globe...as a means to stay relevant.
he just wants to be the biggest artist...without any of the polarizing thoughts that may come with having an actual stance
plus he's a half jewish boy from toronto....thats enough right there :mjlol:

'Conscious' rap is for some, not for others - Get used to it..

OP stank p*ssy having ass dont know anything about hiphop if she believe social commentary is supposed to be a part of your domain and subject matter as a rapper

Nobody gonna get him out the paint because he make too many people bread so unfortunately were stuck with this Canadian caricature of a rapper/R&b singer until who knows.

If you really think about it Drake doesn't talk about shyt. That's probably why he's where he is. His content is basic shyt that's relatable...

**I have haters
**I have doubters
**Relationship drama
**Family struggles
**People switching up when I got bread

The everyday nicca/female can relate when they listen to a Drake joint. But relatability doesn't mean substance. There's not much substance to his music.

Him being a mixed Canadian also plays a part. He doesn't have to embrace political, cultural and societal issues because he's not fully Black and he's not American. So it gives him an easy out.

I mentioned that in the album thread...

I feel like he chooses the most generic things to make songs about in an effort to relate to as many ppl possible.
