Why doesn't Once Upon A Time in America get more props?

arguably it is the best movie ever made in america domestically.
yet, i believe it is usually never mentioned because of the rape scene.
plus, the fact the characters like you said offers no payoff to the viewer.

I have tried to watch this a couple times, but anytime it's on, it will be starting at like 11pm, and I gotta work the next day. then it's never on netflix, nor is it on demand so I can watch it when I'm free. one of the few gangster genre movies I have never seen.

get the uncut version on dvd.
it is worth it and i still plot on cuff'n my lil bro's copy but he guards that motherfukker.

I only watched it once, 11 years ago. I liked it, but am hesitant to watch it again because I remember it being dry (pause) and 4 hrs long. That's not the type of movie you can throw on whenever like Goodfellas.

Same thing happened to his westerns. Its why they didn't get the critical success it should have.
