Why doesn't someone just learn chemistry and create pills in their home?

So first you have to take some years out to learn chemistry and chemical processes and understand theory as well as how chemistry practically works. Like you ever hear about the people blowing up there own houses/RVs when they try and cook meth? Yes they have a basic understanding of what they’re doing but they don’t know the practical side of it. One of the steps releases hydrogen gas. And hydrogen gas isn’t like octane fumes. I’m a biochemistry major and have done research in an organic chemistry lab working with hydrogen gas. Hydrogen gas can spark and explode just by the reaction or the room being too hot

There’s a lot that goes into practical chemistry.

is this general knowledge anyone who gets a degree in chemistry would know, or very specific to the drug they're making?

There was a thread with dudes talkin about how pain pills go like 5 dollars a piece or something like that and they had em cause of dentist visits or whatever. I'm assuming the people that sell them have access to a large amount of these pills and i got to wondering, why don't people who are inclined to sell drugs just learn the chemistry behind making something like ecstasy and then sell it themselves that way? Is it too expensive for them to do, too dangerous? The illegal factor shouldn't be an issue cause they're already breaking the goddamn law to begin with. Also saw a video years ago on youtube about how these poor farmers in like south america made cocaine and was mind-blown that drug dealers in a developed country don't imitate what they do since cocaine has to be like a billion dollar industry.
