Why doesn't this new generation seem to understand or grasp why Jay-Z was considered a top draw?

You gotta check comment sections bro, like on IG posts about rap, check em out next time. 90% of them jawns are young people I’m certain, and Jayz is always getting bombed heavy while Nas is being called the greatest and better and all that. It’s like regular at this point. Pac got that aura, idk about Big…

Well we can start by stating that this is an obvious lie :manny:
U see it on YouTube, TikTok, FB, and IG all the time. Young people who've listened to Jay and don't really understand what the hype was about him. Were we bamboozled into believing Jay was that guy musically 20 years ago?

If I'm being 100 none of his songs have aged well. They dont hit at all today. But we have artists that were considered a notch below Jay who have songs that could still be hits if they dropped today.

Juvenile for example. He could drop the entire 400 Degreez album today just the way it is and still receive critical acclaim and love these YNs and Young Women. I watched some young dudes on TikTok listen to Notorious Thugs and they were mesmerized about how crafty and skilled Big was at blending in with Bone.

This is facts. And the psychology around it is simple. A major segment of mainstream hip hop media been acting like it's just a fact that Jay is the GOAT for a while now. That's what these kids grew up hearing.

Imagine you was 16, or 21, listening to AEOM, LAD, IWW and Vol. 2 for the first time. And I'm using those because those was their biggest albums in their primes, not their best. How many of those listeners is coming away thinking Jay the most impressive rapper of those four and undisputed GOAT? Not many. So a lot of em are gonna say he overrated based on that.

Because he had people like Swizz, Neptunes, and Timbo producing for him. Swizz was mostly trash and SOME Tim and Neptune stuff don’t sound too good now. Meanwhile cats like Paul and J, Dilla, people like that production still sounds good.

He just compared Jay-Z to westsidegunn.

Disgusting.

shyt even the Wayne comparison was disgusting really, "bangers and quotables like Wayne", dog...despite Wayne dikking riding Jay to no end, they are not on the same tier at all

I knew the moment I hit send, I activated the bat signal for the Jaystice League. Part of the reason I hate discussing rappers from 1995 - 2005. I simply picked an older rapper whose equally culturally relevant for certain lines. In no shape does that mean I view them equally skilled hence the distinction of Pusha/West - which you disagree. A polished West drops his ridiculous Hitler/Wrestling gimmick & leans into his struggle to braggadocios imagery of art, drugs, models, fashion while championing NY ....

They don't have the attention span, knowledge or willingness to learn to appreciate what Jay was doing at his highest level.

Jay at his best always had a conversational flow with layered bars. It's the complete opposite of what modern day rappers are doing with harmony and style over substance.

That's the best version of Jay,but i dont think thats the version of Jay they know. They were introduced to whisper flow Jay:scust:. That Jayz who yall gassed up about how great his flow was.

I preffered conversational Jay,who was often off beat flow wise but talked slick and was spitting game:wow:

Jay need to get back in the booth, get back to conversational Jay over some Detroit beats. Otherwise he will continue to fall out of the conversation. A Jayz + BabyFace Ray collab would be legendary.

Jay-Z was a grown man when reasonable doubt dropped.

He heavily regressed for a period intentionally.

You can not blame the fans for him souling out.... @Art Barr chime in

Now this jayz selloout discussion is a titan graph to explain. As it always takes a history lesson. In a titangraph. To debunk the grief candy sellout jiggy bandwagon draw of jayz.

So if the general poster is not ready to read. Or care about hiphop. It will not resonate. Plus showcase the ignorant mainstream draw of fans. That allowed jayz using grief candy. To use that last piece of biggie smalls grief candy. to vault past the jiggy sellout gateway of fan from puff no way out.
now as a bboy.
Before biggie died.
The hipjop culture ban hammer culturally for rap. Was already damaged beyond possible repair. From the prison industrial economy and communications act.

The first problem with jayz is.
The so-called jayz on rd.
Is not jayz tho.
We may have never heard the real jayz ever tbh.
It is a hodge podge biter album, of sauce money, jaz and geechi suede.
Where jay kinda got to prey on those three. Using simple divide and conquer logic. Plus knowing their fatal flaws. Would cut them off at the knees. In rhe long term.

Jaz, was already a sellout and a failed will smith fresh prince biter.
Yet incapable of the impossible. Or incapable of biting. Then providing a higher quality product while biting. Sohh instead of knowing the record industry for the time. Like our generarion taught us to do. Before we entered entertainment spaces. Where fat albert literacy specials educated us. To that era being about going to school before crack.
Yet since jay and jaz was into goofie lame shyt . That 1000 dimes before dinner time shyt. They thought they could say fukk any education. My paper will be my cushion.
Then got in an arena. Where an education was needed. They flauged and fukked it up.
Sohh after so-called success. That is revisionist in the originators.
Fed into the sellout okie doke. As soon as they were offered a deal.
Sohh now they have to rehab their image culturally. In a time. Where selling out was not allowed. Regardless of the fresh prince's success. That originally before summertime. We can assume possibly fresh prince's original foray. Outside of the fake jazzy jeff.
Was true to the top philly classically trained. performing arts top tier student and philly native will smith. Whom graduated from the same school. as wilt chamberlain.
if i remember right without google. i believe. Sohh in that will smith was chasing greatness. Although from philly. Still was an outsider to nyc like a person in jersey. just trying to see studio54. Close but far away in a number of variables socially and culturally. So will smith as fresh prince had to craft. A commercially viable mkdel of success in rhyme. To certify and authenicate. Being able to deviate and be successful. As back then. The you still out here doing this parental rant fron wild style and misappropriated parent direction of ramo in beat street father. Was the sign of the parental times. Regardless of prison industrial economy bullshyt revisionist excuse. That would later be marketed to us.
That most genx and early pre oil crisis nikkaz clung to. Instead of keeping it real. That they knew that you had toget an educatuon. As we came from the generation threatened to be drafted. Where education was an original way. To possible swerve being drafted. Sohh education was the key then. That many ho nikkaz try to use the prison industrial economy. To seek sway for being dumbasses and falling prey to being dealers.
Sohh in that. The fresh prince is more educated and more skilled than jaz and jay. Jay is just lucky. That jerry heller was gifted eazy e. That fateful day. To change american history.
To give jay a small loophole of variables.
many as well as jay use to their advantage. To later become rhis pr'd construct. That has fooled the publjc.
Combine the skill level of failed fresh prince biter, jaz.
As well as sauce money and androgynous pagan like geechi suede.
Sauce although a technician and arguably doper. Let jay bite. Under the same sellout shyt. That ruined jaz. Jayz could eventually play divide and conquer. As sauce money never jettisoned.
his puff sellout ghost writer no way out connection. To be successful Long term or culturally.

To be continued.
I think i may run out of character space. Like usual. When having to breakdown decades of culture thievery and jiggy-ism.
Centered around jayz.
Adult Parent phone duty is calling. Be back in a minute tho.
