:wow:

Dude for some reason loves putting production he doesnt fit over on his albums. I understand trying to show you can flow on anything but them struggle neo soul beats dont work with his style at all.

I do think it's time for him to go a little more uptempo. His last two albums are amazing but I can see why people can tap out on that sound. I think it's always a struggle to do what you like (soul) vs doing what people want (upbeat) and you feeling like that's not what you want your sound to be. He is a gogo head so upbeat music with live instruments should be easy work for him. I hope this is the direction of his next project.

My thing is his albums lack balance, his whole album tend to sound like Mint Condition songs and then his one or two singles that dont flow at all and tend to throw everything off. Like his Neo soul songs arent bad but an album full of that stuff is hard to listen to simple because its not someone singing so it sounds like you are listening to a spoken word album or something

But yeah, I generally don't mind because he seems like a pretty thoughtful dude and that translates in his music. Just out of curiosity, let's say his next project is 14 tracks. How would you break it down as far as number of new soul tracks, turn up, and live ones?

My thing is its one thing if he was doing concept album like say Kendrick tends to do, where every song is like a scene from a movie then wale could donwhat ever he wants because all of the songs are connected, but his albums are just a collection of songs so things get repetitive being that everything sounds the same but dont connect if that makes sense, his albums are like of Jill Scott dropped a mixtape. I think his album should be majority uptempo songs where he flex his skills ala Jay Z and the ( say 8 songs out of 14) and then the others split evenly being the neosoul stuff and a few "geechie" club songs.
