yep got that same look when I played We On Fire

radio

dirty

those clean versions had me fooled often cuz I thought rappers wasnt cussing all the much on the CD.

Pretty Ricky gets my ultimate respect for doing that clean version of their album where they re-recorded the whole thing.

Random but mannie fresh might be the best ever with beats

its been harped on but getting the album version of those cash money singles was almost always a disappointment. They used straight up re-do the songs better.

Nolimit edits, on the contrary, were terrible. Terrible!!!!

First time I heard Touch them other hitters:scust:

P used to rap over a nikka if he was featured ie replacing some of Pimp's bars on I miss my homies

I only recently found the unedited version of Scream. So much better

best clean version of a song i think i've ever heard. you don't even notice there's no curses, when i heard the dirty version i was :sadbron:

i found a CLEAN version of NWA Grestest Hits a few months ago it has

Gangsta Gangsta
CPTs In The House
Straight Outta CPT
Alwayz Into Somethin
If It Ain't Ruff
I Ain't The 1
and 100 Miles & Runnin

it was an in store copy some guy ripped somehow. pretty good if you wanna hear some of the changes they used to make, they did reverse and chop out some words that were unavoidable but 99% of the time they re recorded it and changed the rhymes.

Artists rarely ever did - it was even rare back when Tupac did it. One day while Tupac was filming (either Gridlock'd or Gang Related) he caught a kid listening to the explicit version of his album and Tupac went over to him and said something to to the tune of "man, you're too young for that. I put a lot of effort into making the clean versions they're entirely different takes, you should be listening to those" - not the exact phrase, but something to that tune (You'll have to read over 10 books on Tupac to amass the wealth of knowledge I hold on his life)

Anyway, the reason it doesn't happen anymore is because studio expenses make up too large a portion of the expenses for them to justify having dude going in their to re-do all of his takes
