We need to abandon the misconception that the media is a worthwhile barometer of our status and trajectory . shyt that aint beholden to us can never represent us and inform us properly or effectively . In earnest or not, black or not, don't matter. The bottom line aint tied to us

More Black people need to be doing it.
That being said, there are a lot that I know of, and many, many more other places.

I participated in a community clean up yesterday out here in Houston. We restored life to a playground and although it was hot as fukk and the sun beat down on my precious Black skin, I enjoyed every moment of it.

:wow:
Done this before was a great job.

It's not props, it's countering the ungodly amount of negative propaganda that black men are on the end of.

Believe it or not, black men rarely receive praise or recognition for the good they do. It's actively stifled while the negative is used to promote our image. It's always good to challenge negative propaganda:
Yeah even our own vilify us...Usually on twitter.

Nowhere
finally a good thread. this is a fact. most people who say this shyt are not active in their own communities and so they don't see all the work being done

once i got active the shyt opened my eyes. like u would be surprised all the different shyt that's going on within just like a 10-20 block radius of where you at. people are so atomized these days that people in the same neighborhood can be working on the same shyt but they won't know it because the community ain't as tight knit :wow:

Do you agree or disagree, friend.

Start at 9:30

I disagree because I actually live in a Black community. He's asking why should he clean a community that he doesn't live in and that the women in the community wouldn't be bothered with him in.

If you need p*ssy in exchange for cleaning up a community, you're probably not the person we should give the broom to.

So in layman’s terms, you enjoy being a free maid.

So you live in a poor disenfranchised Black community. Makes somewhat sense for you since you live there but are you part of the problem? I don’t know man. I hate cleaning up after people, friend.

If the community looks like a trash can that's exactly how people will treat it, it's self fulfilling.

I'm on the board of my community's civic organization, and the efforts are bigger than just walking around with trash bags. It also includes putting up cameras in the parts of our community that have less traffic, the areas that people target to dump large trash in. We also work closely with the solid waste management department so we're clued in on exactly why certain things aren't picked up for example.

I'll be a free maid if it means Black children can walk home from school and not feel like they live in a trash can.

I hear you. Next step is getting the problematic men and women in those poor communities to clean up their degenerate mind state so the vicious generational cycle will end. And good men like you will no longer have to be clean up men, friend.
