Why don't IG comedians get sitcoms?

I do. Sitcoms are my favorite thing to watch over movies, other types of TV shows, and even sports

I don't even have a favorite, I can literally watch any sitcom and be interested. Like

- The Neighborhood
- The Upshaws
- Mom
- The Carmichaels
- Superior Donuts
- Last Man Standing

This. Anyone can come up with a few seconds long script that's funny. But having to be funny for half an hour combined with acting skills is totally different.

yeah I've heard Charlamagne talk before about how he tried to put people from the internet on his little MTV shows and 95% of them struggled to translate being funny online to funny on TV.

and that wasn't even a whole damn sitcom or even acting, that's just little talking head segments on an MTV comedy show.

you can cover up a lot of shyt when you're editing a short skit.

You’d need more acting and improv experience for anything longer than t hose short ig clips.

They would need to do more pilots.

A sitcom requires a certain amount of money, writing, and acting that may come as a shock to the uninitiated.

If they pitched, they might get the money and some resources for TV format.

Ain't getting on a sitcom one of the best routes to get established and getting experience?

Nearly all 80s/90s comedians had a show down the line (Martin,Bernie Mac,Damon Wayans,Eddie Griffin etc). I get times have changed but even vets like Mike Epps stay on tv

I'd imagine that some have shot pilots. The nature of their niche comedy and audiences just didn't translate to any of them being picked up during pilot season.

Havent seen any of the low budget films featuring IG comedians, but tubi and those types of platforms sre always looking for cheap content.

never seen more than a few episodes of black jesus, but adult swim does let people get away with way more than a traditional network would.

The only one that deserves one is Big Jah and I think Big Jah is getting more of a bag having full creative control of his own content than ceding anything to the networks.

Sitcoms have writers, the comedians/actors on screen aren't coming up with all the dialog. All the IG comedians need is the acting experience.
