Everyone is gonna come in here talking about
code of honor, or say "cheap shots" are frowned upon, or it's an unwritten rule not to do so, but put it like this -
Right before a fight, a pop-up menu appears and you're given two scenarios of how that fight is going to end, and you've got to choose one:
Option A - you end up getting a severe concussion, missing teeth, bloodied, and you end up losing the fight
Option B - you end up winning the fight by kicking your opponent in the balls.
I can guarantee you that almost everyone is picking Option B, but not many would actually take that route
during a fight; their subconcious would override them from kicking their opponent in the nether regions. Which speaks to how we value our pride more than our will to live, in the moment. We don't contextualize the consequences properly while we're actually in a fight, we only do it beforehand or retrospectively. I'd like to think that if my only chance of beating someone is kicking them in the nuts, I'd take it, but I don't think I would.
I'd only say after the fact, I should've kicked them in the balls, whilst I was laid up in a hospital bed.
