Very general question. In what way? Physically? Politically? In the media?
Historically, black men have defended black women and their families. Hell, the Civil Rights movement was damn near sparked due to black male outrage at the treatment of a black woman on a bus, Rosa Parks. However, in this country, there have been stiff penalties for such and in many ways, it was bred and beat out of us through a period of hundreds of years.
However, I will say this. In general, black people seem to have issues surrounding the vaue we place on each other and people who look like us. We tend to value things and people that are different than us. Subsconsciously, we do this to gain acceptance from peoples who will never accept us the same way they accept their own. And I don't blame them as every people is supposed to look out for themselves before others...this is a form of self-preservation.
Black people in general need to work on valuing the identity that is tied to being black. Once that happens, men will protect the dignity of their women and women will uphold the directive of their men. Until that happens, we will have what we have now, which needs some work I must say.
