OP where do you stay? There are a good number of fire fighters in Atlanta. I applied with a local department. Passed the physical & written test & out of 250 people, I was one of the final 10 chosen for an interview.

Didn't pass the interview tho

You in Atlanta right? My homeboy used to be a firefighter for about 2-3 years but he ended up quitting cause it just wasn't for him. Said he got tired of nikkas dying on him It a very physical job, and can take a toll on some people mentally. He might be able to give you some tips if you still trying to do it.

atleast in nyc until recently there has been a long history of the fire department being extremely discriminatory against black men during the hiring process. many black folk would take the exams and physicals but they just werent being hired. this is due to it being controlled by irish and italians , they hire their own. shyt has changed now that within 5 years they were put under pressure and the exams and hiring policies were modified.

I'm doing a candidate firefighter program at the moment in a nearby town, literally the only breh on the entire department of 60-70 dudes.

It's unpaid at the moment but in a year or two I could be on the payroll. In most decent cities they start you out between 45k-65k and in 10 years or so you could max out over 100k

Just something more brehs should look into, schooling takes 2-3 years but after that you straight

Yea these mofos don't want us in there at all... not sure I would want someone watching my back that's mad because he thinks I got the job due to affirmative action....sad really...

my nikka pops a fireman good retirement all that...its a good lane but you gotta be willing to start from the bottom...think you gotta be an emt first

My coworker husband is a fireman and you definer have to be an EMT. she told me that herself.

I always thought it was a good old boy network when it comes to being a fireman like they on that in a lot of places. Also I believe u work like 24 hour shifts so you only work maybe two days a week or so which is cool.
