The U.S. is literally most dominant country in Summer Olympics history BY FAR and the second most dominant country in Winter Olympics history.

Athletes from around the world come to the U.S. to train because of we have many of the best sports facilities in the world. The U.S. funds women's sports WAY more than any other country on Earth (Title IX).

The Olympics is a fair example, but I'm talking pound for pound/sport for sport. Cuba has the most BWC titles (25), Canada won the most IIHF Championships (26), New Zealand won the most RWC titles (3), and Russia's been dominating Amateur wrestling for 20 years. Those sports aren't niche here in America.

To your point about the best foreign athletes coming over here to train. You right, but some of these foreign athletes are US residents that have dual citizenship. They live and train here, then go on to compete for their own country. They use that same training and flip it on US lol

OK, I see what you're saying but this doesn't mean much. The U.S. isn't going to dominate or be successful in every single sport. That's impossible and would be unfair to every other country lol.

Also, BWC? As in Baseball World Cup? Um, that's like the 3rd most important tournament in international baseball (after the Olympics and WBC - World Baseball Classic). Baseball isn't played frequently at the Olympics and the MLB doesn't allow it's players to play in the Olympics. The WBC does feature MLB players but only twice so far and the WBC is fairly new. The U.S. is the most recent WBC champions though.

The IIHF is ice hockey. Ice hockey is CANADA's sport (literally). They should be dominating that lol. So that's not saying much. Canada's #1 sport is ice hockey. Ice hockey is not the #1 sport in America.

RWC? As in Rugby World Cup? Rugby IS an extremely niche sport in America. Most Americans don't care about rugby. Rugby is huge though in New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, etc. So that makes sense.

Amateur wrestling is a fairly niche sport. Also, like I said, America isn't going to be dominant or successful in everything.

I know that. That's not the point though lol. They wouldn't be able to "flip it on the US" if they didn't take advantage of the facilities. Those facilities don't exist in their countries.

As a culture we love sports as much as other parts of the world, so why do college and school?

Honestly I know so much guys that went to school just to play basketball and football. Im not saying kids shouldn't go to school, even at soccer academies the kids get tutors

Football and basketball aren’t expensive. Football more expensive than basketball but it’s still cheap cause you don’t have to buy your own pads. All you need is a ball and a hoop to play which is why it’s becoming more global. Only thing keeping football cheap is that most rich kids don’t like to get dirty and are afraid of getting hit. If you wanna get into equestrian sports that shyt costs 100,000 +

Why do people think people are not talking about an issue just because they haven’t been paying attention lol.

There are entire libraries worth of literature discussing the inequalities and barriers to entry in youth sports.

But yeah shyt is real. It’s why the US will never be a serious contender for the World Cup. You have to be SOLIDLY upper middle class, meaning at least 150-200K, to give your kid a chance (not guarantee) to playing soccer at the collegiate level.

Equipment isn’t even the issue here. It’s the year round leagues, traveling leagues during summer, private instruction, nurturing love of the game by taking them to sporting events, the merchandise etc.
