*refs in the line of fire and goes down*

Ref is down, face wrestler doesnt know it, tries a small package or a pinfall attempt to no avail He slaps his hands on the mat in confusion several times as if he's counting, before he finally gives up.

He gets up, notices the ref down, goes over to try to revive him.....meanwhile, heel has picked up a foreign object/chair etc., or his manager cheapshots face with something, ref starts to gain his wherewithal just in time to see heel performing his finisher on already KO'd face.


Heel gets the pinfall, crowd boo's, heel acts like he fought a valiant fight in victory.

they don't happen nearly as frequently, nor with any level of creativity.

The only ref involvement these days is the 1-2-and pulling their leg out of the ring before 3.
