Why don’t the A-list GOATs drop music frequently anymore? Wayne and Jay haven’t dropped solo albums in 4 to 8 years.

Nas been on a run lately..

Jay put out 4:44 and y'all noobs didn't appreciate the game he was lacing. All hell broke loose when he denounced the money phone though.

50 is out here investing his time with television which makes more sense because cats are willing to pay money towards a streaming service.

Rick Ross flopped recently

T.I's last couple albums came and went too

It's 2024, I'd rather these cats in the game invest their time and money into some other business ventures and just treat the music as a second priority now.

Look at Cam. He's focused on his business ventures and just puts out music because he feels like it.
Nas flopped and came & went bro, hate to break it to you

Because they fear flopping. Once they release it and you all don't support it it will begin to tarnish their rep as being a top dog.
Doubt that's the case for Wayne though when he dropped that Rich The Kid mixtape that flopped as well as "The Fix" which also flopped.

He's still talking about dropping C6 in spite of that.

I don’t think those were expected to do big numbers though, but if Carter six flops, then that would be crazy.

Nas flopped six times in a row, but he’s still fine.

the incentive is significantly less since streaming pays WAY less than CDs....even though there's been more than enough time to adjust, I'd get the frustration to feeling pressured to play the streaming/algorithm game just for your album to have legs.

It’s 2024 who still thinks they’re the top guys in rap? :what: Only way it can flop is based upon sales. Their legacies are set in stone.

Wayne is on a major and the Carter Series was always a commercial success.

Nas hasn't courted the radio since Summer On Smash and even that's a stretch.

Nas doing non-commercial sounding lyrical rap on an Indie label and still doing similar fw numbers as many of the newer "hot" acts today like Fivio Foreign whose album did 29k fw.

True

I don’t think Wayne and Nas or Jay need sales anymore.

They’re top 5 all time :manny:

Jay-Z is semi retired. I can tell from his most recent recorded verses (God Did and the D’Angelo collab) where he’s barely even rapping, but kinda just given spoken word pronouncements, that he isn’t inspired or motivated to make music anymore. He doesn’t have the spark that makes effortless talents like him go right now. It may return, but he’s clearly not interested in rapping at the moment

Wayne still has the spark, but is just a legacy act in between album cycles. He’s obviously been actively recording full time and C6 is likely dropping this year.

Rick Ross,2chainz, Lil Wayne all just dropped albums that flopped and were trash

Rick Ross has always 'flopped' tho. He has one Plat plaque which took over a decade to certify and he's never done a big solo tour. He's been consistent in lower sales his whole career so its unfair to say he flopped
