I'm going to go with Drake is telling the truth. What drake said has been said many times before.

Jayz and Kanye knew way before they got on the song that it was going to be with apple.

It's an honor for kanye and jay z to be on this long awaited album from such a relevant and popular rapper. That would explain why jay z only added not even a full sentence.

Jay z is only known to the younger crowd b/c of beyonce. Most of them don't know or care about his music. Kanye's image/likability took a turn when he got with the kardashians.

Jay z was trying to use him just like drake hops on popular songs. To "ride the wave" of the other person.
