first generations always assimilate to what their friends and people they grew up around sound like....atleast here.
also jamaican parents always try to challenge their kids as far as claiming being jamaican. i was called a "yankee" all through childhood
ive only seen jamaican accents become popular as the norm to be imitated in the UK and toronto...cause i guess their original culture is swaggerless

I'm from the UK. Shyts the norm to me. I'm not carribean but a lot of carribean slang is just regular slang to me because that's what people grew up speaking where I'm from.

Here's an example of the biggest street songs in the UK from the last couple years. The dudes on the patois aren't from the carribean. Skepta for example uses a lot of patois and he's UK Nigerian

If you're an untravelled America it's harder to understand than if you're from London, Toronto or even the carribean
