Some women can't afford abortions, are generally uninformed about their bodies and what certain changes in their bodies mean (especially if u started having sex at a young age), or are too afraid of the consequences that they don't seek help until the only choice is to have the baby. Additionally, it's not that hard to believe that some extremely impoverished ppl can't afford plan b or don't even know what it is. If I recall correctly, plan b also has a weight limit for whom it will work (i think not over 180 pounds ). Women have goals and dreams too that become shattered when they are forced to raise a child at a young age or on their own. Not every woman who has a baby was actively hoping and wishing and being happy about that baby.

If you are in the child's life but not with the mother, that is called co parenting. She would still be considered a single mother b/c she is not married to the father of her child. Today, there are more co parents than parents who are truely single and doing it completely alone. That is why I think they should have seperate names.
