my windshield in both my cross country drives as well as Oakland - LA hauls begs to differ.
How old are you two?I guess it's just not all that obvious to me. One of those science vs. anecdotes things. I ride a motorcycle and spend some time outside, and fish too so I see plenty of bugs.
Nah, it would be impossible to make a dent. The entire world is supposed to be an insect farm, they should naturally be reproducing all over the place with no problem. When they're not doing that you've created problems in the environment that a little breeding program can't solve.maybe create insect farms to help them respawn faster
I haven’t seen one in years! And hell catching them use to be our past time. Couldn’t wait for dark. Yard would be full.Fireflies are going extinct, brehs...
We're doomed.
Firefly decline: Insects decline as development destroys habitat

Same here on both. LolI used to put them in a glass jar with the lid filled with small holes, so they can breathe. We called them "lightning bugs"
How old are you two?
Year-to-year it's hard to tell, but man, when we did road trips as a kid in the 1980s and 1990s it was WAY different than today. I remember how you had to scrape all the bugs off on every stop. Grill full of bugs. Not even close to comparable now.
Every study I've heard is dire. And it's not just bugs - you look at frogs, snakes, birds, mammals, fish....everything is crashing down.

Until we start leaving natural habitat alone and stop filling it up with pesticides and pollution, their numbers will keep crashing.

The thing is, population grows by percentages, usually low-single-digit percentages.Overconsumption is a massive problem, yes, but, overpopulation is another problem right below it. As more trees get chopped down for housing and establishments, less space for the environment to grow.

But one person can easily consume 10x or even 100x more than another person.
Just look at China. They stopped their population growth and the country is still going to shyt environmentally (and fukking up a lot of other countries along with it) because their consumption is increasing like crazy.
this except i was driving from namibia to botswanamy windshield in both my cross country drives as well as Oakland - LA hauls begs to differ.
Unfortunately the helpful ones are dying and the WOAT insects (mosquitoes and roaches) don’t seem to be going anywhere.

I mean I agree but at the same time, I'm weary of doubting the ability of humanity to essentially go into overkill about anything. Like if people want there to be more or less of something, it can be done on a massive industrial scale. Sort of reminds me of this story I came across a while back.Nah, it would be impossible to make a dent.
