It also depends how you define athleticism.
Different races/ethnicities/etc have different traits and features that make them more adept at certain sports

That's dumb to say when people migrate 24/7. Many of these regions share tribal groups considering there are whole Nigerian ethnic groups in Sudan and Eritrea from decades and centuries ago. Liberia and Kenya share a few ethnicities, Congo and Burundi share ethnic groups with Uganda. Again it's not bound by region.

Studies on Nigerian tribes indicate no significant ethnic difference between them. So any substantial number of people from any tribe in Nigeria is now about the same as any other West African in the region. Intelligence is not connected to athletic ability; the two things are mutually exclusive. But since you want to bring up the notion that East Africans and North Africans have "superior inteligence" than Southern Sudanese, we'll discuss it. It was the Southern Sudanese and blacks thereof which fostered Ancient Egypt. Meanwhile the East Africans, like the Somalis, have achieved nothing close, unless you consider Arab invasion an achievement.
