Nas identifying with the backpacking crowd? No as well because Nas raps have substance and they are simple and straight up for street dudes to get into.

simple & straight up?

since when do street dudes need their music to be simple?

:what:

They didnt catch much of it because Jay didnt put as much effort into it as Nas did.

All of that effort Nas put in is why these backpack crowds flock to him.

Shyt just doesnt happen for no reason dude.

They call out Jay biting Biggie because of Biggies popularity and how he rode him heavy after his death. We both acknowledge that he bit Biggie and you even say that he bit other rappers which is a fake move. :yeshrug:

they didnt catch because they either didnt want to catch it or it just flat-out went over their heads.

they prolly just brush it off as street ni88er talk and toss it in the same boat as "money, cash, hos". simply because they cant relate and/or jay doesnt walk around with the conscious tag or acts like hes tryna kick knowledge.

i dont see how jay rode biggie. more like he was saluting biggie, which only made biggie's legacy - well bigger.

I dont know why you guys try to paint jay z as a non cash money and hos dude. Sure his rap skills are good but lets be real here lol.

Saluting my ass. Thats the shytty excuse he said to throw yall off. :mjlol:

Biggie helped Jay not the other way around. Your too much of a Jay stan if you cant see that lol.

According to Stoute, when he was managing Nas back in the 90s, he was bringing Nas a lot of opportunities that would have furthered his brand and really put him even further out on a commercial level with a lot of endorsement deals and whatnot, but Nas was basically turning them all down.

what were these opportunities tho?

stoute has a way of making people look corny. and stuff like that could hurt your career back then.

how am i a jay stan? because im not stanning nas like youre doing? i havnt given a dam about either of these dudes for about a decade now.

im not painting jay as anything. im not even saying that hes a conscious rapper. but if you think he rapped about nothing but 'money cash hos', then youre either not listening or this just aint for you.

why are you acting as if im defending dude, when ive already stated that hes sharked a bunch of rappers? im just not in agreement on the biggie thing. theres a difference between biting and saluting. its not like he took un-popular biggie lines and tried to run with them. lol.

Well hey a few scattered topics about otherwise doesnt compare to the many cash money hos songs he has made.

Nas had a few hit singles but you dont see me saying that he is on the level of Jay in mainstream appeal. :dead:

Nas could of blew out the water with IT WAS WRITTEN but for some reason die hard fans were manipulated into believing that Nas went against the grain with that masterpiece....

i'd say it accounted for a good 35% of his albums at the least.

Damn this still going on?

Anyone saying Nas wasn't mainstream 1996-2002 just wasn't around then.

IWW, Billboard #1, double platinum
The Firm, Billboard #1, platinum
I Am, Billboard #1, double platinum
Nastradamus, platinum
QB's Finest, gold
Stillmatic, double platinum
God's Son, platinum

A 7 year span with two #1 solo albums, a #1 grou album, and overall 5 platinum solo albums and he never properly made it in the mainstream?

NaS had 3 muti-platinum albums in that span. LOL. Dudes really wasn't around. The question really should of been was NaS TOO Mainstream during that period.

OP is obviously trolling. Nas is a mainstream artist. But watching this, and seeing how mainstream and well known he is, is only a testament to his greatness :ahh:
