Which was the early 70's, he created and was one of the leaders of electric funk which alot of other artist would copy an paste after steve brought it out.
He played every instrument too, and wrote hits for others like aretha Franklin's "until you come back to me"
Stevie made three classic albums in a row...3 in a row innervisions, songs in the key of life and the another one either after or before that
No drama? That’s a lie. There doesn’t need to be drugs or anything depressing to have a compelling life story.
He’s been blind since he was 6 years old, there’s a lot of drama right there. How can you say watching a poor, Black, and blind kid become a musical genius isn’t compelling? Ray was a great movie even without the sex and drugs subplots.
He was also a child star at one of the greatest record companies of the 20th century. He had an amazing stage mom who even co-wrote a few of his classics. He survived a horrific car crash that nearly cost him his life and inspired one of the greatest albums of his career. He has one of the greatest discographies of all time and the process of creating those works would be very compelling to watch. He’s had several female partners and one of them was a co-writer for a chunk of his career. He seems to have worked with all of the Great music legends of the 20th century from MJ to Aretha to Whitney to Paul McCartney and on.
They’re making a biopic about boring ass Celine Dion, they could make one about Stevie.

Because there are no contingency plans to truly honor him when he eventually passes.
Just like there were no contingency plans for covid-19
The american mindset is just dont think about it , ignore it & hope it doesn't happen or go away.

It would work perfectly a mini series with a great writer. The generic music biopic plotline you described is not the only option. All of that you described is wonderful, great, beautiful, makes my eyes water...but that shyt would make a boring movie
The basic structure of just about every movie is the setup, confrontation, and resolution...where is the confrontation in Stevies career? Stevie's life?
him and berry gordy had a bit of a spat that they got over pretty quickly, but can that fill 2 hours?
the man's career and life has been wonderful, not the stuff you make movies out of...they may as well make a movie about al jarreau
