Why has the word "blessed" become synonymous with bragging?

sometimes, when i see it, and it makes me think of God, all the concepts i learn about God didn't focus on material attainment, much less promoting it. so when i see someone glamorize an event and associate God with it, it just doesn't command the reverence i was taught to give to God in my lifetime. but, i'm wrong for that. there's little reason to hold them to the same standard i use to hold myself to.

People simply confuse the meaning of blessing with being successfully, i feel blessed to have a good family and to know the word of God

Blessing is a divine gift, being rich or having a good job does not mean that you are blessed although it can happen.

God blesses those who seek the truth, who walk in the right path and above all recognize him as the only savior.

I'm not saying some people don't humble brag .

But what about folks who may have been living in a terrible apartment or had a junk car .

They thought it was no way they could get their first home but God was like let me show you I am the way .

Thensay they are Blessed so be it but they better know it wasn't just them who made it happen .
