Why have labels given up on developing artists?

I don’t really get it, the biggest artists right now are the ones who have been in the background somewhat that the label themselves put work in and then released on us with A LOT of money backing them.

Is that not the smarter choice? These artists will make more money for a longer period of time then these artists like Lil Xan and shyt. :yeshrug:

I’m not saying they shouldn’t sign these flash in a pan artists too, but, that’s ALL they’re signing.

well you got an example of a heavily manufactured artist doing numbers in this camilla cabella pawg, you know the boys at the label been developing that ass heavy :shaq:

but otherwise, the economics don't really work. rappers seem fully capable of eating off of little shows / streams so labels can wait till they catch.

in the old days you had to develop rappers to get them off the fry line and in a studio. now dudes dropping hits with a mic in the closet (pause) emailing vocals to a producer in some other state, labels can wait and see how the chips fall rather than invest early.

it's not a good deal for the artists but that's how shyt go
