Why haven't Hip Hop producers started sampling obscure West African beats?

Not to be that nikka. But... If I'm not mistaken... The beat patterns we use today are from west Africa. The drum is from west Africa. American slaves were not allowed to have a drum. Our beats are from Cuba... Which had the most slaves, and slavery longer than any where else. But where slaves were allowed to buy freedom and own drums.

I've always thought Fela's discography and Afrobeat in general would be great for hip hop, or even pop music, sampling.

Sampling is dead. A better question would be given the amount of people in hiphop with west indian origins, the jamaican presence on the eastcoast in general and the history of jamaicans in hiphop why haven't dancehall beats been used more in hiphop? that afrobeat shyt just a poppy swagless knock off dancehall anyway.
