The drug war is bullshyt but inner cities in the 90's were reaching the point of noreturn.
this is the shyttiest excuse for the drug war that i've seen
policy planners knew that the drug war was going to be ineffective. their own studies suggested that their war on drugs would have no effect on stopping the spread of drugs. they KNEW this yet they did it ANYWAY.
which begs the question: if they had evidence that their plans would not stop the spread of drugs what was their actual intent in implementing the policies?
this narrative of the war on drugs just being some little mistake in the fight for clean streets is as NAIVE as they come. it ignores all the other events during that time which suggest there were more nefarious reasons for going with those policies
