I know it's long over, but I always wondered why she didn't run in 2004. Was it because she initially supported the war or the fact she was still in her first term as senator? I know beating a sitting President is hard, but the public was already outraged with Bush in 04. Being that the Democracts had a soft no personality candidate in Kerry, it seemed like it would of been the best time. Thoughts?

2004 was before the liberal networks starting growing and connecting (MSNBC, think tanks, journalists etc)... all they had was MoveOn and a bunch of center right 'reasonable' institutions. I don't think public outrage could have been channelled dependably to unseat him in the context of the whole war on terra thing

And yeah her lack of experience would have been a factor... Obama got super lucky with the Iowa caucus its not common that such a thing would happen

They should have nominated Howard Dean but the idiots in the media took him down for being excited while rallying his supporters :smh: kept playing the silencing-mic audio feed without the surrounding audience drowning him out

Never really thought about it...however I have a friend who's convinced that she should have ran in 2008, most probably would've won, then Obama would come in 2012 and probably get two terms, and that's three straight terms for the Democrats :whew: But who knows is Hillary would've stepped aside (do sitting presidents EVER not run for re-election?) or if Obama would've waited.

You also have to remember she was still rehabilitating her image from the damage caused by Bill and years of being vilified by the right. Also she had made a promise to NY voters that she would serve out the full term.

She would not have been competitive enough to win the Democratic Party's primary.

In that book Game Change it said she didn't run in '04 because Chelsea told her to keep her promise to New Yorkers to serve a full term
