Times change and there's many more places for people to discussion rap, but the quality of music has taken such a hit since the early 2000s. There are very few artists that have a significant impact anymore. Drake and Kendrick are the only newer artists that have any cultural impact. The only other big names are some guys from the older guard like Jay-Z, Eminem and Kanye, but their quality isn't what it used to be and none of them is in their primes anymore.

The funny thing is that you talk of 2001 being some sorta golden era but the fact is back in 01 on SOHH all dudes did was moan how garbage hip hop was as much as they do now.
AHH was always garbage to me. In fact SOHH started to decline when the posters started migrating from there. Most of them were corny Eminem and G Unit stans. Some are polutting this very board.
SOHH was always smarter with more surreal humour. Characters like Jako Greene and Krom were mad geniuses. Weirdos like Space monkey. Classic threads like Papitos fake BP2 tracklist. Anticon wars. Sentenza getting sonned on a daily basis All sorts of weird shyt. The Coli still has some of that offbeat humour but a lot of those characters disappeared once the Dipset and G Unit stans flooded the boards.
This is real easy to me. Though there are many reasons, the biggest problem is there really isn't much QUALITY music to discuss. I rememberin 2001. You had to see it to believe it. That year gave us 3 classics alone...BP, stillmatic and the fix. Mix tapes were crazy!! 50 was DOMINATING the mixtape scene!! Em was killing it, DMX was still hot! Niqqas can hate all they want but TRUF is TRUF, rap is sh!tty now so there ain't much to talk about!
