Everybody is drunk on that kool-aid. But honestly, what that boy is doing right now is unseen and unheard of. He is ridiculous. And is damn near automatic from half court. But I can't call him the greatest shooter of all time...at least not yet and here is why.
Part of what makes all the greats (Ray Allen, Steve Kerr, Paul Pierce, Larry Bird, Reggie Miller etc...) great shooters, is their ability and intelligence to not just shoot, but to find, create, and take GOOD SHOTS.
Steph takes more bad shots than good. He makes them though. He takes shots that even if Jordan took those types, Phil would sit his ass down on that pine. But Steph can make those.
A big part of Steph's shooting is his athleticism that comes with it. He can be running 100mph, stop in his tracks and lob it up and BANG *Breen voice*. He can dribble it and run around defenders and just jack it up and BANG *Breen voice*. The boy can be falling out of bounds and toss it up....BANG *Breen voice*. The point is, is that although he doesn't look like LeBron, he is an athletic guy.
Once that athleticism goes, will he be able to find, create, and take good shots? IDK that yet.
I only say this because, in the OKC series and in the Cleveland series, both teams have sort of contained him. Once they stop all the running around and keep him from using his athleticism, he isn't as effective. You can't contain great shooters, you can only hope they are off.
But he is unbelievable and I do believe he will be hitting better shots 7-8 years from now, but until then I can't pull the trigger on deeming him the GOAT.
