There are many companies in Silicon Valley, and work life balance varies even within large companies with some teams being much less stressful than others.

Not Silicon Valley, but I know Microsoft in the Seattle area is known for having a lot of teams where people work like 30 hours a week because they're on a team just in charge of "maintaining" a product that doesn't need a lot of maintenance. I know new grads making 150k+ a year on teams like that.

in this case, dude could find a job anywhere, probably with equal $$$ but ppl in other industries will not be so lucky

Came to say this, he Literally said tech is the best pay-to-stress industry out there, compared it to investment banking and med docs and I agree with him.
