It honestly has alot to do with american culture. Crime isn't really looked down upon in America and never really has. Americans are bread from the time we are young to "get money, work hard, YOU are the master of YOUR destiny"

a lot of times that translates into "ima get mine and fukk everyone else." It is evident in our street culture, business culture, professional culture. And thus, when you do not have you have more capacity to do what you must to get what you want including being violent.

Aggression is a virtue in America.

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
Someone already said it and it was so easy and simple. We are the only country that allows everyday citizens to own 8372882784 guns.

Unless you have a felony conviction, you can walk out of Walmart with a 12 gauge right now. Right now.

Look a most of the murders in this country, most are gun deaths. Take that away and nikkas would go back to swords and knifes. Which in most other 1st world countries are illegal to walk the streets with too.

Killing people is a lot harder with no access to guns, knowing you gotta get face to face and stab him with a blade to kill him

The thread starter said dangerous, then again said violence. If we talking any old crime, then every country is on par. I thought we was talking murder and violence. Which if there were no guns, a lot of p*ssy nikkas would not be down for the shank fight on these streets

- have to define what we mean by dangerous. I would guess that you mean one can lose their life at the hand of another.

- So then we have to look at who it is dangerous for. It is dangerous for young black males in certain areas of cities if you're going to talk about violent crime.

- Why is it dangerous for young black males? Well people tend to hurt or kill their peers.

- So why are young black men killing their peers? Many issues here. As a sociologist, I think it starts with the capitalist system. Just as with other members of our society, money and status are valued above everything. Even life. With limited opportunity, education and expectation, you have people who are competing for the same resources in a small area, who feel they have no alternative. This = violence all over the world from the South Side of Chicago to the Gaza strip. For the average American, this does not equate to violence. They might be in competition for resources, but this is seen as a solvable problem. Most take advantage of their education and can do something about it.

- So then you ask, This is the US. Everyone gets to go to school. Everyone has access, what is the failed part of this for young black men? While the infrastructure and education is there that isn't available in the developing world, you have a common factor of broken social bonds. Some of those are bonds are with family. No father. No mother. Raised by grandparents. Isolated families. Or you even have deviant bonds. Relationships with people involved in deviant behavior as one of your primary relationships. With so many involved in this type of live, you end up with a cycle.

- So what could be done. Some believe that you repair the bonds. Its the same formula for reducing suicides. You need young fathers staying. You need young single mothers having strong familial or peer relationships with non-deviant lifestyles. Humans seem to have a tendancy towards these bonds. That's why you see gangs. That's why you see church. That's why you see families getting together. Its not about nuclear family structure. Its about how influential the bonds are. Even if you grow up in the hood, who are you around.

I know that's long winded, but basically, the way American society is setup, people don't have large support structure(big families living together), so we rely on peers more than other societies. This works fine in a great area with positive influences, but bad in the hood.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
South Africa is first world (if you're white), and it has a lot more violence in certain cities. That said, America won't be a first world country for much longer, the type of disparity we see between wealth and poverty is similar to a 3rd world nation.

Our GDP is first world, our quality of life isn't when you compare it to other developed nations, we're much closer in line with 2nd world countries.

Bangkok Thailand is mad dirty, street dogs, 4 year old homeless boys and girls, institutionalized prostitution, etc. but they are not nearly as dangerous as many places in the US. Is it cause they're Buddhists?

There's multiple things at work.

America's violent culture, and I don't mean horror movies or gangsta rap.

I mean, our culture of I've gotta get guns and shoot my way out of problems. It's the reason we've been to war a ton of times in the past 240 years.

Second, we're a culture that's a melting pots.

You look at a lot of countries that are heterogeneous, they're usually violent. The countries in Scandanavia and Japan are homogeneous, so they're not quite as violent.

Thirdly, we have more income disparity than any other first world nation, so we allow poor people to see rich people living it up right next to them, so that makes poor people want to do ANYTHING to be like the rich folks they see on TV.

Fourth, our capitalist system encourages extreme aggression in all of it's forms and tells people that if they don't have shyt, they aint shyt. It's not about "we", it's about "me"!

and lets be honest if we took out all the black on black murders this countries murder rate would be pretty low. that has a lot to do with the crime rates usually in most cities your fine and crime isnt an issue unless your a poor, ignorant black gang member then the target is really on you

You're a little right and a little wrong.

You're right about the people dying and doing the most killing.

The only reason you're a little wrong is more about an omission more so than being factually wrong.

America has ALWAYS been a violent country, even when Blacks were slaves and before the Great Migration drove us up north.

Cities like New York and Chicago were murder cities when Italians, Jews, and Irish people were doing the killing.

I mean, pretty much all of the pop culture of the 1st half of the 20th century was about how violent Italians and Jews were.

So, it goes beyond race

Someone already said it and it was so easy and simple. We are the only country that allows everyday citizens to own 8372882784 guns.

Switzerland, I believe actually has more liberal or just as liberal laws about gun ownership than America does.
