Merely getting away from religion is smart in itself. Not being non spiritual.

Everything in life is uncertain. The more you understand that, the smarter you'll be. The idea of 100% certainty is pure fantasy
Could say the same about flat Earthers. Except they are studying and researching information from other idiots. Asking questions alone isn't a sign of intelligence. Especially ones that have been answered just to be contrary

Abrahamic religions actually say the complete opposite, that you'll never have full certainty of the world. You aren't meant to have 100% certainty, if you were, you'd be God Himself
Generally, but that's largely due to two reasons.
The first is a requirement: as a human, you're likely to grow up in a family or area where you're indoctrinated into a specific religious belief, the amount of genuine thought and fighting with cognitive dissonance required to escape those beliefs takes some intelligence.
More than that: atheism is something that has been associated with scientists and scientific thoughts, when biologists and anthropologists pointed out that YE and OE Creationism were nonsensical ideas, and that many colloquial beliefs about the world around them that had been used as a basis for Christian thought carried no truth to them, the association was solidified.

All the subdivision within religions and differing viewpoints on the same teachings. It's about control and that's why you get so many false leaders in the churches and mosques. Using sheep for their own will. They know the power of religion and how it can be used to manipulate others. Anyone who is willing to operate like that knows the word but doesn't believe in it. They will sell the hell out of it though to their followers because they understand its power and influence over those that do believe. That faith in religion or a denomination over understanding of spirituality is what is stupid.
Isis knows this and they are using the guise of being strictly Islamic to get the sheep who believe in such trash to do their bidding. It's a means to an end. Before them monarchs and kings have done the same and adopted religion after their power as men started to look frail... They tied their positions to divinity and God. Had people dying for God and fighting for God when it was their bidding.
An incredibly large chunk of religious beliefs, especially those that give explanations of unusual natural phenomena, are simply parroted assertions from random nikkas, using no evidence, but declared with the utmost certainty.

All Abrahamic religions speak on people who use God for evil purposes, and false prophets. The blasphemy of man doesn't negate the spirituality

That's not religion, that's man's doing. Man using free will to create his own interpretation of his religion is separate from the religion itself
