Americans dont care about it, but to the rest of the basketball world this is a much more important competition than the Olympics.

In fact, the US is the only country to seriously care about the Olympics.

For the record I was being sarcastic cuz dude said you can't compare it to the World Cup when its the exact same tournament...

Who cares what the rest of the world thinks?

The US is the BBall mecca, the rest of the world can get down or lay down. :ehh:

Like i said, we know we're the best, us 'caring' about FIBA wouldn't raise it's stature to anywhere near the level of FIFA.... it would just cause us to dominate even more than we do leading to fewer Americans giving a fukk.

says the breh who said "Basketball world" in his post.

Yup, Amurica, the only place in the bball world that matters. :ahh:

Buy, ya back to your original post, it's easy to see why skipping out on FIBA is not comparable to skipping out on FIFA.

I mean ... he did leave the team hanging and YES, this tournament is considered to be the premier basketball tournament in the world, NOT the Olympics

:ld:

Im sure everyone understands and respects his decision, but dude did just quit on the team

He could have at least departed the team before they made cuts, may have saved Paul Milsapp the embarrassment(for lack of a better word) of being cut

No one else has mentioned this, but I think it has to do with KD possibly leaving Nike. All these sportswriters are beholden to someone, people within a team's front office, or a big company like Nike. Chris Sheridan probably has "friends" and "sources" at Nike that aren't happy with KD, so they want to put a little heat on him for this. Sportwriters get used to do dirty work like this all the time.

Who says Team USA can't win with all that talent anyway? And since when does the World Championship matter this much? Why isn't Sheridan blasting Lebron? Sheridan is just trying to tie this to UA and the Nike contract so he can sling mud for Nike now that it's looking like KD is leaving. It's too bad people don't question these writers/bloggers for their biases instead of just white privilege and closet racism.

:snoop:

You assert that KD is lucky he is in America, but where was this outcry when Dirk skipped the FIBA World Cup in 2010 cuz he wanted to rest? Was it comparable to what you'd expect if CR7 decided to skip the FIFA World Cup?

Furthermore, if America's best soccer player decided to skip the FIBA World Cup (an event we're just mildly invested in compared to the rest of the world), don't you think there'd be a greater outcry than we're seeing for Lebron not playing (which is zero.... nobody is shytting on Lebron for this.... and people shyt on Lebron for the most baseless shyt).

KD isn't lucky he's in the US, he's lucky he's a basketball player pulling out of the FIBA World Cup instead of being a soccer player pulling out of the FIFA World Cup.

He quit on his country... He quit on his teammates
and he quit on his fans

That sums it up
