Instability at the HC spot as well. Wouldn't be shocked if some players gave them the ND/Willingham treatment after how they did Embree. Worst thing they could have done was go from Big 12 to pac12. Two different types of football that will probably take them another 3-5 years just to compete against them

Utah is finding out that there's levels to this shyt as well since they joined the Pac 12. Utah and Colorado seem destined to be bottom feeders for a while I think Cal will make an impact before those 2 do.

Utah getting their wig pushed back is beautiful. Boise state knew they weren't bout that life and kept their jokey smurf ass in the Mountain leftover conference

to your core point, you're right...unless the big 12 REALLY was breaking about like it looked like it was going to, they should've stayed put.

All that and they NEVER adapted to the change of philosophy in college football.

They were good early in the Big 12 b/c they were a running team at a time when running was still important. They certainly never had a decent QB....beyond Joel Klatt.....who could keep them competitive in the spread offense generation.

Only guy I can recall who turned into a superstar there was Daniel Graham, the TE. Nebraska suffered a similar fate, but fortunately for them they could recruit a few better athletes.

It's ironic the only time Utah was a factor as far as Pac 12 play was their first year and they let a 2 win Colorado team punk them in their house to cost them a trip the Pac 12 title game. :heh:

Colorado lost that Texas pipeline with that move too. I know they get scraps outta Cali (well use to) but that was way before Oregon really started their run

That one of my two college that should never left their old conference (BC the other) Colorado used to get Tex-Ark-La players because of the Big 12. Guaranteed Two Texas Road Games. Its a shame they're Kansas status in CFB. No offense Lucky

They had a relatively brief run of success, and people around here felt like they should be a perennial title contender....which was foolish.

With the exception of one fluky year in 2001, their only stretch as an "elite" program was between '89-96.

But as to why they're so bad now? Dan Hawkins burned that shyt to the ground :dead:

Yeah, Colorado was running back u for the latter part of the late 80s-90s . Nothing else. Kordell Stewart was the lone QB that made noise during that stretch and he was a dual threat.

They had a lot of lucky years. (Remember that play in the big house @Ed MOTHEREFFING G ) :troll: But Hawkins burned that program to the ground :wow:

As dead as they are now all it takes is to hire the right coach and you can be good again i think people are right in that they need to join the new age offenses because all it takes is a great qb and a few wrs and it can mask alot of flaws with the spread

Look at teams like Texas Tech and Baylor i know they have Texas to recruit but they arent exaclty gettign tons of blue chips [though i know Baylor is starting too] and Baylor went to a bcs becasue of the offense and Texas Tech who gets mid major level recruits is in bowls every year
