Why is eating out so stigmatized?

Old heads at my job always make comments like “You need to start packing a lunch”, “start buying sandwich making items”. Be wanting to tell them nikkas mind they own but :yeshrug:

I did construction for 3 years and that’s all I ate. Weak ass sandwiches, soup, granola bars, oatmeal etc. I work in offices downtown now so I’m around good ass food everyday so of course ima cash out on shyt.

It’s not like I’m buying McDonald’s or Burger King everyday :trash:

Eating out for lunch every day at work is expensive and if you're eating unhealthy it will eventually take a toll on you. If those aren't issues for you then don't pay attention to what your coworkers think.
I get salads, wraps, flatbreads etc

I don’t eat red meat of any kind. No pop or sugary drinks no coffee

Let's be generous and say that you spend $5 on breakfast and $5 on lunch for a 5 day workweek so $10 a day.

$10 X 5 = $50 a week

$10 X 20 days a month = $200

$2400 a year in one off meals

That's just a round number but basically you could make your own lunch for about a third of the price. I don't know what your finances look like but do whatever makes you feel good.

Edit: Numbers were off but fixed now, already quoted a bunch of times so :manny:

It hurts your pockets over time, that's why.

Also, you are eating food cooked by people you don't know. It's not a judgment because I do it, too.

But when you really think.about it, it is weird we willingly eat food cooked by a complete stranger because we are reliant on "health standards" to protect us or govern those preparing the food. We may not be as lax in other areas our lives, but we may be when it comes to what we consume.

At the end of that day, though, how can you go wrong making your own food?
