Right. This entire thread is idiotic. Every continent is connected to every other continent. The term continent is merely a term meant to signify difference in flora (plants), fauna (animals), climate, ethnic origin, etc. It's a nebulous and subjective term with some objective underlining but not too much.

No question is dumb, it's dumber not to ask at all. :ehh:

Did anyone else who had schooling outside of the States learn 5 continents?

Antarctica, America, Africa, Eurasia and Oceania?

I know people learn different continents so I was curious what some of you learned.

No way Europe should be considered a continent.

All map lines are imaginary. Don't think about it too hard.

True but continents do have a physical component to them. Not perfect transition but close:

Yea, that's what I learned in the States in high school and is what is widely accepted in society.

I think what I originally learned made more sense.

I'm more curious about where Asia ends and where Australia, New Zealand and the 1000s of surrounding islands start.

Wouldn't all that be called Australasia? Oceania?
shyts confusing..

people from the east indies are more related to east asians in terms of genetics anyway, so i guess..

you know what..

fukk this shyt..

thread has already been answered

but I'd just like to see a map drawn to scale. As a poster already mentioned, Australia is larger than greenland but they "look" the same

If we can do it for the solar system/universe, why can't we get it for a picture of the earth. When I look at a map, I want to be able to distinguish the differences.
